Your steps towards your retirement file: how and how long?
To replenish your file, there are 2 different request channels that will impact the time needed to obtain a complete file:
- The channel related to the assessment and correction of your rights 15 days to 3 months. If an allocation of points or a work period needs to be corrected, the formalities can take 6 months. If you have been abroad and need to recognize certain periods of work abroad by the French system, this can take up to 12 to 18 months: These are all the requests you make to the pension funds before the age of 57 to 58 years. A request for correction or clarification falls within this channel. To obtain responses from the funds or clarifications, it takes.
- The channel related to the liquidation of your retirement: 3 to 4 months are needed, this period is much faster as the goal of the pension fund is to get you out of its management and to start receiving your pensions.

During the career:
- I must keep my pay slips.
- I must keep my work certificates.
- I must keep my Assedic certificates.
- I must keep my intermediate point accounts.
- I must keep all documents sent by the funds.
At the time of departure:
- I must try to know my full-rate departure age (cnav request).
- I must calculate the benefit I should expect at 65 (or the disadvantage).
- I must wait for my employer to show up.
- I must request a career reconstruction from my additional funds.
- I must make an appointment at the nearest CICAS to my home.
You can apply for a single retirement online, with your personal FranceConnect account, on your pension fund’s website, but it is recommended to always apply to all of your schemes as a safety measure.
The secret to a successful application? A complete file.
Each insured person must provide specific evidence based on their personal situation. Here is a list of supporting documents to be provided in 2020, regardless of your retirement request and your situation:
- The duly completed retirement application form and signed cerfa https://www.lassuranceretraite.fr/portail-info/files/live/sites/pub/files/PDF/demande-retraite-perso-1.pdf;
- A photocopy of your identity card, passport or valid residence permit,
- The last 12 pay slips
- The signed and stamped termination certificate from the employer;
- Your last tax notice or a copy of the income declaration notice;
- The bank identity card (RIB) on which you wish to receive your pensions;
And now find a festival of other supporting documents that may be requested to review your file (non-exhaustive):
If you can or are required to retire due to special conditions, you will need to provide proof of this situation. Examples of special retirements:
- If you are a foreigner, a document proving your nationality (copy of the birth certificate with parentage, family record book, etc.)
- If you are or have been unemployed; (even unpaid): the certificate of unemployment periods from the last year provided by Pôle emploi.
- In case of disability or disabling illness: all elements that prove and allow the assessment of the disability that led to a permanent disability of at least 50% or a disability with a similar level of disability.
- In case of retirement due to disability: a medical certificate attesting to your condition or your disability rate and a notification of allocation or rejection of the AAH (Allocation for Adults with Disabilities);
- Retirement due to pain: your medical grouping and pension notice from CPAM or MSA, or any other relevant scheme and believe me this can get complicated at this stage.
- If your file concerns an early departure for a long career: the certificate validating eligibility for a long career we provide the unique cerfa request available here!
- If your case concerns progressive or early retirement: the employer’s certificate indicating the duration of the full-time and part-time period, as well as a copy of the new part-time employment contract;
- for the retirement of veterans, deportees, prisoners of war or internees: the veteran’s card and the service record;
- Business owner and managing director: the meeting minutes mentioning the cessation of managerial activities.
- Farmers: then it’s straight to the fish with sometimes the request for waiver of agricultural property!
